Releasing Endorphins
I run because it’s the only thing that reminds me of my body. I float along half the time, disengaged because nothing is engaging. Being engaged for so many years, to be precise…15 and 1/2 year long engagement. We had our ups and downs, but I could always depend on you. Through the fall and then scooping into the spring with less momentum but excitement for the oncoming spring. We danced through time, in fact I never had a concept of time with you around. It was not a normal calendar year, it was a different, mechanized, scheduled year that only revolved in my planner.
Hitting my feet on the pavement, breathing in, half breathing in, not breathing in. Running speeds up “soul puberty” a little bit faster. There’s a dynamic reality within each coordinated breath and step taken between me and the pavement. A erratic fight/dance. “The key to lifelong happiness…physical exercise.”
Apparently someone got it right along the way.
